Hantaviruses are a family of virus. It is spread by rodents. And causes varied disease syndromes in people. If someone is infected by it, it can cause hantavirus disease to the person. It may cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) or hemorrhage fever with
renal syndrome (HFRS).
People have started panicking on social media following the report that a man has died in Yunnam province of China after testing positive to it. The panic was as a result of people thinking that it is another COVID-19 that can cause a new pandemic.
How It Can Be Contacted
Hantavirus is not like coronavirus that is airborne. You can not contact it by sitting close to the infected person in a vehicle. People can contact this disease when they come in contact with rodents urine, feces and saliva; and touches their face(nose, eyes or mouth). It is not an airborne disease. But always observe your personal hygiene and use your hand sanitizers.
